How long have you been working for the U.S. Army?
I have served with the U.S. Army for 20 years. Although it has been a long journey, the time has passed quickly.
What other positions have you held with the U.S. Military?
I began my career as a receptionist at the Laundry Pick-Up Point in the Laundry Branch, Supply and Service Division, Logistics Readiness Center-Honshu. After several years, I was promoted to supervisor for the Camp Zama and Sagamihara Housing Area laundry pick-up facilities. Rather than outsourcing laundry services off base, we operate an on-base facility. This allowed me to work directly with customers, understand their needs, and coordinate service requests to support Army personnel and civilian employees traveling on temporary duty or relocating through permanent change of station moves.
Tell us about your job and what you do:
I currently work in procurement in Property Book Office Branch, Supply and Service Division, LRC-Honshu, where I support the ordering of equipment in accordance with Army Regulation 710-4, Army Materiel System. I process requirements from both the United States Army Garrison Japan and LRC-Honshu. This position has given me the opportunity to learn about the many Supply Locator Codes and unit identification codes used across the organization. Every day brings new learning opportunities, and I value the chance to expand my knowledge of Army regulations and supply procedures.
How long have you been in this position?
I have been in my current position for one year and three months. My coworkers and supervisors have been very supportive and willing to share their knowledge. I look forward to gaining a deeper understanding of the systems, expanding my experience, and contributing further to the team.
What other duties are you responsible for?
In addition to my procurement responsibilities, I prepare required documentation and provide procedural support for turn-in actions for both USAG-J and LRC-Honshu. Because the Defense Logistics Agency has detailed requirements, I regularly coordinate with the Installation Supply Support Activity team and DLA representatives to ensure actions are processed correctly. I also had the opportunity to participate in DLA training, which was both valuable and enjoyable.
What are some of your accomplishments while at your current position?
One of my most significant accomplishments was supporting the gas mask inventory and consolidation mission. Over approximately six months, our team counted, inspected, and verified the serial numbers of approximately 1,350 gas masks assigned to the USAG-J and LRC-Honshu. Completing this demanding project through teamwork, attention to detail, and close coordination was a rewarding accomplishment for the entire team.
What is the best thing about working in your section?
The best part of working in my section is the leadership and support provided by my supervisors and above. They are kind, approachable, and always willing to listen. Their accurate guidance and commitment to supporting the team have created a positive and professional work environment. Our section includes many experienced leaders and colleagues.
What do you like to do in your free time?
In my free time, I enjoy running at the gym, planning future travel, and studying personal finance and investing. I enjoy staying active and making productive use of my time.
Do you have a special skill or talent you would like to share (what is something people might not know about you)?
My international experiences inspired me to give back to the community. I am currently volunteering with an organization in Machida City that helps foreign patients navigate the local civic hospital system. This experience allows me to support people in need while deepening my understanding of health care systems and cultures around the world.
